TEACHING
Teaching

Teaching is part of developing as a musician. Every time you explain something you understand it better yourself.

Nederlands

About
About

Eddie Jensen is a communicative carefully listening drummer with a light and sensible touch rooted in traditional jazz. His love for detail and playing what the music asks for, enables him to seamlessly surf on the borders of styles accompanying indie singer songwriters as well as backbeat based Jazz.

“Through music I thrive to reconnect people to the imaginative world through which we floated carelessly when we were kids”

He is working with several bands of different musical styles with which he is playing concerts across the Netherlands as well as in Europe.

With the “Baby Jazz Band” Eddie was touring in Europe playing in venues like the “Unterfahrt” in Munich, “A Trane” in Berlin and the “Hot Clube” in Lisbon. And was fortunate enough to play a concert with the late great Johnny Griffin III. While studying in Amsterdam as a member of WIZZ! winning first prize of the Keep an Eye competition.

At the age of 10, he started playing the drums in a jazz band founded by his friends and himself called "Art And Life Sahara Baby Jazz Band" They played every day together with great enthusiasm. In 2001 they met the fabulous jazz pedagogue and bass player Zé Eduardo who decided to teach them on a weekly basis for over 4 years. Zé founded an association under the name "Gremio das Musicas" which organized jazz workshops once or twice a year. Teachers included Jim Black, Frank Tiberi, Tony Moreno, Mark Ferber, Aaron Goldberg, Matt Penman, Gerald Cleaver, Doug Weiss, Jonathan Kreisberg, John Fedshock, Russ Lossing, Gerry Versace and many other incredible musicians. Eddie received his Bachelor Degree in Jazz Drums from the Conservatorium of Amsterdam in 2013. Currently he is expanding his rhythmical depth by studying Tabla with the great Niti Ranjan Biswas.
